Adam and the boys had always made great beer, the question was how do we make them stand out on a crowded local craft beer shelf and appeal to a customer who walked in not knowing what they wanted? I analyzed the local and regional competition to gain insights on what would fit into their playful style, but also draw consumers in.
For Charlestowne Fermentory, my design studio took their existing can designs and reimagined them to create a more cohesive and recognizable visual language across their entire lineup. The goal was to maintain the spirit of their brand while refining the layout, typography, and color systems to bring unity and clarity to the shelf. In a competitive market, this consistency helped their products stand out while reinforcing their identity with every release.
We leveraged modern, dynamic can printing techniques—like textured finishes and metallic inks—to bring an added layer of depth and personality to Charlestowne Fermentory’s can designs. These elements not only made the visuals pop on the shelf but also created a tactile experience that made drinking their beer feel even more special. The result was a lineup that looked and felt as unique and memorable as the beer inside.
The results of our efforts created a genuine buzz—our thoughtfully crafted cans became conversation starters that people noticed, shared, and remembered. By linking striking visuals and tactile finishes with the experience of enjoying great beer, we built a deeper emotional connection between the product and the customer. Charlestowne Fermentory is becoming more than just a brewery—it’s becoming something people talk about, not just for the beer, but for the full, memorable experience that surrounds it.
